01

Main Station

In 1996, the Fire District's Main Station on Banzer Road was flooded and destabilized. Chief Crawford began working with FEMA, Oregon Emergency Management, and the Oregon Fire District Directors Association to find funding sources for a new building. The property where the current Main Station is located was purchased, and the building process began. Ground was broken in September 1998, and the building was completed in 1999. Furnishings were donated by a bank in the Portland area from their storage of outdated office furniture.

Sager Station

When our current fire chief was still serving as a volunteer, Joe and Ginger Kaczenski made a significant contribution to the community by signing a lease agreement on July 15th, 2005. This agreement established a 99-year lease for a symbolic fee of just $1 per year. The purpose of this lease was to secure the land necessary for the construction of Sager Station.

03

Fishhawk Station

In 1984, the Fishhawk Lake Association proposed building a new fire station at Fishhawk Lake. After negotiations, an agreement was reached in late 1985: the Fire District would provide training and equipment, while Fishhawk Lake would supply a structure for an engine and at least eight personnel for primary response. The site also includes a helipad for Life Flight, enhancing emergency response capabilities in the area.

04

Peterson Station

Construction and zoning began in 1989 and Peterson station was completed in 1991 along with the help of many generous community members. This station serves the southern reaches of the Fire District and provides mutual aid service to Vernonia RFPD.

05

Birkenfeld Station

In 1984, leases for the Birkenfeld Station were signed to establish the Birkenfeld substation, with the agreement finalized on May 3rd. Due to the property's layout, two separate leases were required: Ralph and Dorthy Learned leased the north half, while Robert and Gladys DuPUIS leased the south half, allowing the substation to utilize both portions effectively.

06

Burris Station

In 1994, Dan and Julie Bennes signed a 99-year lease for the property at $99, providing long-term stability for the Fire District. This period saw key achievements, including securing approval for a bridge to support heavy emergency vehicles, improving access and safety. Additionally, NW Natural Gas extended power to the station, making it a climate-controlled facility.
